Types of Tooth Veneer Procedures
Nowadays there are two techniques which use dental veneers to improve the discoloration of the teeth by correcting the stains formed on their surface. Both procedures work very well and they both have good results, but, as any other medical technique, they have advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, it is better for you to discuss and decide together with the cosmetic dentist on the type of procedure that would be most suitable for your objective.
Composite Veneer Procedure:
This is one of the two procedures available for dental tooth veneers. The best thing about this technique is the fact that the composite (direct) veneers are usually fixed on the teeth surface during one session at the dentist's office. The process in simple: the dentist will apply a bond and some enamel right on your teeth surface.
Porcelain Veneer Procedure
This procedure is also known as indirect veneers procedure. It uses a very thin porcelain layer. This technique is a bit more time consuming as it will need two session at the dentist's office and another one at a specialised dental laboratory. But at the end of this effort, the teeth will be whiter and brighter.
Lumineer Porcelain Veneer Procedure
This is the latest dental procedure available on the market. The Lumineers are made out of Cerinate porcelain; they are as thin as contact lenses, no more than 2 mm thick. The best thing about this procedure is the fact that little or even no tooth reduction is required in this case. And there is also no need for the use or anaesthesia or any other numbing shots.
